To US WEST COAST base ports* SLIPS: The Nov. 9, 2018, US West Coast base port average spot rate was $2,575 per FEU, $31 or 1.2 percent below the previous week. The rate is up $1,164 or 82.5 percent year over year, and $1,052 or 69.1 percent above year-end 2017. This Nov. 9 index was $1,114 or 79.9 percent above its Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $1,431 per FEU. To US EAST COAST base ports* CREEPS DOWN: The Nov. 9, 2018, East Coast base port average spot rate was $3,613 per FEU, $2 or 0.1 percent below the previous week. This week's rate is a year-over-year increase of $1,696 or 88.5 percent. The Nov. 9, 2018, index is up $1,195 per FEU or 49.4 percent from year-end 2017, and $1,174 or 48.1 percent above its Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $2,439 per FEU. To NORTH EUROPE base ports* INCHES UP: The Nov. 9, 2018, North Europe base port average spot rate was $753 per TEU, $1 or 0.1 percent above the prior week as the rate rose $25 or 3.4 percent year over year. The Nov. 9, 2018, level was down $111 or 12.8 percent from year-end 2017, and down $479 or 38.9 percent from its Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $1,232 per TEU. To MEDITERRANEAN base ports* FALLS FOR SECOND WEEK: The Nov. 9, 2018, Mediterranean base port average spot rate was $767 per TEU, down $2 or 0.3 percent from the prior week. The Mediterranean rate is up $148 or 23.9 percent year over year and up $29 or 3.9 percent from year-end 2017.
