INCHES DOWN: The SCFI fell 70 points (7.2 percent) from the prior week, decreasing to 910 points for the week ending Feb. 14, 2020. The index is down 35.75 points (2.4 percent) from the end of 2019. The Feb.14 index reading was 89 points (8.9 percent) below the Oct. 16, 2009, base of 1,000 points. To US WEST COAST base ports* DIPS: The Feb. 14, 2020, US West Coast base port average spot rate was $1,423 per FEU, $122 (7.9 percent) below the previous week. The rate is down $411 (22.4 percent) year over year, and down $11 (0.8 percent) from year-end 2019. The Feb. 14 index reading was $8 (0.6 percent) above its Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $1,431 per FEU. To US EAST COAST base ports* CONTINUES TO DECLINE: The Feb. 14, 2020, East Coast base port average spot rate was $2,768 per FEU, $183 (6.2 percent) below the previous week and $200 (6.7 percent) below the same week last year. The Feb. 14 index reading is down $230 per FEU (7.7 percent) from year-end 2019 and up $329 (13.5 percent) from its Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $2,439 per FEU. To NORTH EUROPE base ports* TUMBLES: The Feb. 14, 2020, North Europe base port average spot rate was $850 per TEU, down $119 (12.3 percent) from the prior week and $56 (6.2 percent) year over year. The Feb. 14 index reading is down $177 (17.2 percent) from year-end 2019 and $382 (31 percent) from its Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $1,232 per TEU. To MEDITERRANEAN base ports* FALLS: The Feb. 14, 2020, Mediterranean base port average spot rate was $1,031 per TEU, down $1448 (12 percent) from the prior week. The Mediterranean rate is up $111 (12.1 percent) year over year and down $141 (12 percent) from year- end 2019.
