The April 10 index reading was 132 points (13 percent) below the Oct. 16, 2009, base of 1,000 points. To US WEST COAST base ports* RISES: The April 10, 2020, US West Coast base port average spot rate was $1,630 per FEU, $34 (1.9 percent) above the previous week. The rate is up $85.36 (10.8 percent) year over year, and up $90 (9.5 percent) from year-end 2019. The April 10 index reading was $132 (13.2 percent) above its Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $1,431 per FEU. To US EAST COAST base ports* CREEPS UP: The April 10, 2020, East Coast base port average spot rate was $2,720 per FEU, $62 (2.2 percent) below the previous week, but $82 (3.1 percent) above the same week last year. The April 10 index reading is up $196 per FEU (13.7 percent) from year-end 2019 and up $199 (13.9 percent) from its Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $2,439 per FEU. To NORTH EUROPE base ports* JUMPS: The April 10, 2020, North Europe base port average spot rate was $764 per TEU, down $33 (4.1 percent) from the prior week but up $113 (17.4 percent) year over year. The April 10 index reading is down $263 (25 percent) from year-end 2019 and $468 (38 percent) from its Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $1,232 per TEU. To MEDITERRANEAN base ports* SURGES: The April 10, 2020, Mediterranean base port average spot rate was $859 per TEU, down $4 (0.5 percent) from the prior week. The Mediterranean rate is up $144 (20.1 percent) year over year and down $313 (26.7 percent) from year- end 2019.
