The June 8 index reading was 144 points (14.5 percent) below the Oct. 16, 2009, base of 1,000 points. To US WEST COAST base ports* CONTINUES TO GROW: The June 5, 2020, US West Coast base port average spot rate was $2,132 per FEU, $35 (1.7 percent) above the previous week. The rate is up $384 (29 percent) year over year and up $244 (17 percent) from year-end 2019. The June 5 index reading was $247 (17.3 percent) above its Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $1,431 per FEU. To US EAST COAST base ports* RISES SLIGHTLY: The June 5, 2020, East Coast base port average spot rate was $2,738 per FEU, $6 (0.2 percent) above the previous week and $236 (9.4 percent) above the same week last year. The June 5 index reading is down $260 per FEU (8.7 percent) from year-end 2019 and up $299 (12 percent) from its Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $2,439 per FEU. To NORTH EUROPE base ports* CLIMBS: The June 5, 2020, North Europe base port average spot rate was $880 per TEU, up $17 (2 percent) from the prior week and up $101 (13 percent) year over year. The June 5 index reading is down $147 (14.3 percent) from year-end 2019 and $352 (28 percent) from its Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $1,232 per TEU. To MEDITERRANEAN base ports* TICKS UP: The June 5, 2020, Mediterranean base port average spot rate was $879 per TEU, up $7 (0.8 percent) from the prior week. The Mediterranean rate is up $186 (25 percent) year over year but down $241 (20 percent) from year- end 2019.
