The IPI growth rate compares the latest week's index with the IPI's average over the past year. In the week ending June 13, the JOC-ECRI index sequentially slipped 0.4195 point to 128.2673, in its fourth week of consecutive decline following the highest index level since the week ending Sept. 23, 2011, at 129.9286. The rate is in dollars and based on a full 40-foot containerload, excluding terminal-handling charges in Hong Kong. The June 16, 2014, average spot market rate from Hong Kong to Los Angeles was $1,650 per FEU, reaching the lowest level since the last five weeks in 2011 when the index was $1,436 per FEU. The average spot rate was $100 or 5.7 percent below the week before, and $307 or 15.7 percent below the same period last year. While the average spot rate was $436 or 20.9 percent less than the year-to-date 2014 high of $2,086 per FEU from mid-January through mid-February, it was $1,231 or 42.7 percent below the Drewry record high of $2,880 per FEU of Aug. 6, 2012. This benchmark's weekly year-over-year results have been consecutively negative for the last 62 weeks, since April 15, 2013. IMC-brokered highway shipment revenue in April 2014 averaged $1,666 per load, $35 or 2.1 percent below the March yield while $265 or 18.9 percent above the April 2013 yield. The average monthly IMC highway yield for the first four months of the year was $1,641 per load, $228 or 16.1 percent above the same period in 2013. The average April 2014 IMC intermodal yield was $2,815 per load, $106 or 3.6 percent below the March yield while $158 or 5.9 percent above April 2013.
