This index was $332 or 26 percent above the Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $1,279 per TEU. Comprehensive SCFI* Spot slips: The May 30, 2014, comprehensive SCFI reading was 1,108.64 points, slipping 6.72 points or 0.6 percent below the week before. This index was 94.93 points or 9.4 percent above a year ago and 108 .64 points or 10.9 percent above the Oct. 16, 2009, base index of 1,000 points. To U.S. WEST COAST base ports* Spot drops: The May 30, 2014, U.S. West Coast base port average spot rate was $1,865 per FEU, $58 or 3 percent below the week before and $143 or 7.1 percent below a year ago. This index was $434 or 30.3 percent above the Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $1,431 per FEU. To U.S. EAST COAST base ports* Spot declines: The May 30, 2014, U.S. East Coast base port average spot rate was $3,332 per FEU, down $52 or 1.5 percent below the week before. This index was $156 or 4.9 percent above a year ago and $893 or 36.6 percent above the Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $2,439 per FEU. To NORTH EUROPE base ports* Spot declines: The May 30, 2014, North Europe base port average spot rate was $1,155 per TEU, $33 or 2.8 percent below the week before. This index was $557 or 93.1 percent above a year ago and $77 or 6.3 percent below the Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $1,232 per TEU. n Shanghai export average spot rates for the following four trade lanes are among the 15 component trade lanes in the weekly SCFI — Shanghai Containerized Freight Index produced by the Shanghai Shipping Exchange and weigh 57.5 percent of the SCFI comprehensive reading.
