This spot rate is $246 or 19.2 percent below the Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $1,279 per TEU. Comprehensive SCFI* Seventh week down: The March 7, 2014, comprehensive SCFI reading was 934.39 points, 46.67 points or 4.8 percent below the week before. This index was 138.42 points or 12.9 percent lower than a year ago and 65.61 points or 6.6 percent below the Oct. 16, 2009, base index of 1,000 points. To U.S. WEST COAST base ports* Fourth week down: The March 7, 2014, U.S. West Coast base port average spot rate was $1,784 per FEU, $68 or 3.7 percent below the week before.
