This index was $578 or 46.6 percent below year-end and $616 or 48.2 percent below the Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $1,279 per TEU. Comprehensive SCFI* Sixth week down, sinks to record low: The April 3, 2015, SCFI comprehensive reading was 763.95 points, tumbling 40.64 points or 5.1 percent below the week before and 284.93 points or 27.2 percent below year-end, while 300.92 points or 28.3 percent below a year ago. This index was 236.05 points or 23.6 percent below the Oct. 16, 2009, base of 1,000 points. To U.S. WEST COAST base ports* Sixth week down: The April 3, 2015, U.S. West Coast base port average spot rate was $1,635 per FEU, tumbling $66 or 3.9 percent below the week before and $423 or 20.6 percent below year-end. This index was $173 or 9.6 percent below a year ago, while $204 or 14.3 percent above the Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $1,431 per FEU. To U.S. EAST COAST base ports* Sixth week down after record index: The April 3, 2015, U.S. East Coast base port average spot rate was $4,033 per FEU, tumbling $182 or 4.3 percent below the week before and $465 or 10.3 percent below year-end. However, this index jumped $771 or 23.6 percent above a year ago and $1,594 or 65.4 percent above the Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $2,439 per FEU. To NORTH EUROPE base ports* Ninth week down: The April 3, 2015, North Europe base port average spot rate was $511 per TEU, tumbling $75 or 12.8 percent below the week before and $574 or 52.9 percent below year-end. This index was $731 or 58.9 percent below a year ago and $721 or 58.5 percent below the Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $1,232 per TEU. SCFI - SHANGHAI CONTAINERIZED FREIGHT INDEX n Shanghai export average spot rates for the following four trade lanes are among the 15 component trade lanes in the weekly SCFI — Shanghai Containerized Freight Index produced by the Shanghai Shipping Exchange and weigh 57.5 percent of the SCFI comprehensive reading. The April 3, 2015, SCFI comprehensive reading was a record low 763.95, tumbling 40.64 or 5.1 percent sequentially and 300.92 points or 28.3 percent below a year ago.
