This index was $376 or 30.3 percent below year-end, down $622 or 41.8 percent year-over-year, and $414 or 32.4 percent below the Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $1,279 per TEU. The last time this index was above its base level was Feb. 13, 2015. Comprehensive SCFI* SECOND WEEKLY RISE: The Sept. 2, 2015, SCFI comprehensive reading was 718.97, 28.59 points or 4.1 percent above the week before. This index was 329.91 points or 31.5 percent below year-end and 414.88 points or 36.6 percent below a year ago. While the Sept. 2 index was 170.20 points or 31 percent above the record low 548.77 of July 24, 2015, it was 281.03 points or 28.1 percent below the Oct. 16, 2009, base of 1,000 points.The last time this index was above this base level was Feb. 27, 2015. To U.S. WEST COAST base ports* THIRD WEEK DOWN: The Sept. 2, 2015, U.S. West Coast base port average spot rate was $1,456 per FEU, $25 or 1.7 percent below the week before, $602 or 29.3 percent below year-end and $848 or 36.8 percent below a year ago. This index was $333 or 29.7 percent above the record low $1,123 of July 24, 2015, while $25 or 1.7 percent above its Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $1,431 per FEU. To U.S. EAST COAST base ports* THIRD WEEK DOWN: The Sept. 2, 2015, U.S. East Coast base port average spot rate was $2,672 per FEU, $61 or 2.2 percent below the week before, $2,377 or 47.1 percent below its record high of $5,049 of Feb. 13, 2015, $1,826 or 40.6 percent below year-end, and down $1,964 or 42.4 percent year-over-year. This index was $233 or 9.6 percent above the Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $2,439 per FEU. To NORTH EUROPE base ports* 29.1 PERCENT RISE IN WEEK: The Sept. 2, 2015, North Europe base port average spot rate was $763 per TEU, sequentially gaining $172 or 29.1 percent and $558 or 272.2 percent above the record low $205 per TEU of June 19, 2015. This index was $322 or 29.7 percent below year-end, $366 or 32.4 percent below a year ago and $469 or 38.1 percent below the Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $1,232 per TEU. The last time this index was above its base level was Jan. 23, 2015. SCFI - SHANGHAI CONTAINERIZED FREIGHT INDEX n Shanghai export average spot rates for the following four trade lanes are among the 15 component trade lanes in the weekly SCFI — Shanghai Containerized Freight Index produced by the Shanghai Shipping Exchange and weigh 57.5 percent of the SCFI comprehensive reading. 4.1 PERCENT GAIN IN WEEK: The Sept. 2, 2015, SCFI comprehensive reading was 718.97 points, sequentially gaining 28.59 points or 4.1 percent, while losing 414.88 points or 36.6 percent year-over-year.
