This index was $437 or 35.2 percent below year-end, $612 or 43.2 percent below a year ago, and $475 or 37.1 percent below the Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $1,279 per TEU. The last time this index was above its base level was Feb. 13, 2015. Comprehensive SCFI* REVERSES COURSE: The Oct. 30, 2015, SCFI comprehensive reading was 759, 221.27 points or 41.1 percent above the week before. This index was 289.88 points or 27.6 percent below year-end and 353 points or 31.7 percent below a year ago. While the Oct. 30 index was 225.09 points or 42.2 percent above the record low 533.91 of Oct. 9, 2015, it was 241 points or 2 4.1 percent below the Oct. 16, 2009, base of 1,000 points. This index was $2,695 or 53.4 percent below its record high of $5,049 of Feb. 13, 2015, $2,144 or 47.7 percent below year- end, $1,694 or 41.8 percent below a year ago and $85 or 3.5 percent below the Oct. 16, 2009. base rate of $2,439 per FEU. To NORTH EUROPE base ports* SPIKES $757 IN WEEK: The Oct. 30, 2015, North Europe base port average spot rate was $988 per TEU, sequentially jumping $757 or 327.7 percent, while $783 or 382 percent above the record low of $205 per TEU of June 19, 2015. This index was $97 or 8.9 percent below year-end, $324 or 24.7 percent below a year ago, and $244 or 19.8 percent below the Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $1,232 per TEU. The last time this index was above its base level was Jan. 23, 2015. SCFI - SHANGHAI CONTAINERIZED FREIGHT INDEX n Shanghai export average spot rates for the following four trade lanes are among the 15 component trade lanes in the weekly SCFI — Shanghai Containerized Freight Index produced by the Shanghai Shipping Exchange and weigh 57.5 percent of the SCFI comprehensive reading. JUMPS 41.1 PERCENT IN WEEK: The Oct. 30, 2015, SCFI comprehensive reading was 759 points, sequentially gaining 221.27 points or 41.1 percent, although 353 points or 31.7 percent below a year ago.
