In January 2016, 40-foot traffic sequentially gained 3.3 percent, 20-footers advanced 3.2 percent, while 53-footers tumbled 5.7 percent. Year-over-year results in January 2016 were led by a 6 percent jump in 40-foot traffic, 53-footers gained 2.3 percent ,while 20-footers plunged 5.1 percent. In calendar 2015, 40-foot traffic increased 4.7 percent year- over-year, 53-footers gained 4.5 percent, while 20-footers slipped 0.5 percent. IMC-brokered highway shipment revenue in January 2016 averaged $1,470 per load, $90 or 5.7 percent below the December yield while $136 or 8.5 percent below the January 2015 yield. The average monthly IMC highway yield in calendar 2015 was $1,533 per load, $94 or 5.8 percent below calendar 2014. That level was 16.7 cents or 7.2 percent below the average price in December, while 85.4 cents or 28.5 percent below January 2015. SLIGHT WEEKLY RISE: The EIA calculated the average highway price for U.S. No. 2 ultra- low sulfur diesel fuel for the week ending Feb. 22 was $1.983 per gallon, 0.3 cent or 0.2 percent above the week before, while down 91.7 cents or 31.6 percent year-over-year.
