30 THE JOURNAL OF COMMERCE www.joc.com MAY 16.2016 TOP 25 NORTH AMERICAN PORTS SPECIAL REPORT OUTBOUND n Ranked by 2015 laden TEUs Leading the North America outbound container trade in 2015 were the Southern California ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach with a combined volume of 2.8 million TEUs, plunging 7.8 percent year-over-year, although representing 18.1 percent of the overall North America outbound container trade. The JOC Top 25 container outbound ports in North America in 2015 represented 96.5 percent or 15 million TEUs of the 15.6 million TEUs in the total North America outbound laden container trade. The total volume of these top 25 outbound ports in 2015 declined 2.8 percent year-over-year, incrementally besting the overall drop by all outbound ports in North America by 0.2 percentage point. Among these top 25 outbound ports in 2015, 17 were U.S. ports; four, Canadian ports; and four, Mexico ports.
