The April 2016 ISM manufacturing material imports index sequentially advanced 0.5 percentage point to 50 percent after two months in contraction. n ISM U.S. manufacturing customers' inventories index vs. ISM U.S. manufacturing inventory index In its third month in contraction, the April 2016 ISM customers' inventories index sequentially tumbled 3 percentage points to 46 percent. In its 10th month in contraction, the April 2016 ISM manufacturing inventory index sequentially declined 1.5 percentage points to 45.5 percent. n ISM U.S. manufacturing price index vs. ISM U.S. manufacturing backlog of orders index The April 2016 ISM manufacturing price index sequentially leaped 7.5 percentage points to 59 percent in its second month in expansion. In contrast, the April 2016 ISM backlog of orders index sequentially slipped 0.5 percentage point, slowing to 50.5 percent in its second month in expansion. n ISM U.S. new manufacturing orders index vs. ISM U.S. manufacturing inventory index The April 2016 ISM new manufacturing orders index sequentially tumbled 2.5 percentage points to 55.8 percent, slowing in its fourth month in expansion. In its 10th month in contraction, the April 2016 ISM manufacturing inventory index sequentially declined 1.5 percentage points to 45.5 percent. n ISM monthly U.S. manufacturing index vs. ISM U.S. production index The April 2016 ISM PMI (Purchasing Managers' Index) sequentially declined 1 percentage point to 50.8 percent in its second month in expansion after being in contraction since October 2015. The average PMI in the last 12 months was 50.4 percent, with a May-June high of 51.3 percent and a December low of 48 percent. The April 2016 ISM production index sequentially declined 1.1 percentage points to 54.2 percent in its fourth month in expansion. n ISM monthly U.S. supplier deliveries index vs. ISM U.S. production index The April 2016 ISM supplier deliveries index was 49.1 percent, moving into contraction and sequentially shedding 1.1 percentage points.
