SEESAWS: The JOC-ECRI Industrial Price Index for the week ending May 11, 2018, was 109.61 as the index slipped 0.29 points. The rate is 6.21 points below the 2018 high of 115.82 set January 26 and 0.27 points above the year-to-date low of 109.34 set March 30. Year-over-year growth in TEU volume at five fastest growing of Top 20 Chinese ports Broad global economic expansion kept growth at China's Top 20 ports in the first quarter on par with last year's level of 6 percent as volume reached 48.9 million TEU, according to the Shanghai Shipping Exchange. SLIPS: The May 14, 2018, average spot market rate from Hong Kong to Los Angeles of $1,410 was down 9.6 percent or $150 from the prior week. The May 14, 2018, level is down $11 or 0.8 percent year over year.
