LOSSES EXTEND TO THIRD WEEK: The SCFI lost 26.57 points or 3.4 percent from the prior week, dropping to 751.13 points for the week ending June 22, 2018. The index is 73.05 points or 8.9 percent below year-end 2017. This index was 248.87 points or 24.9 percent below the Oct. 28, 2009, base of 1,000 points. To US WEST COAST base ports* FALLS FOR THIRD WEEK: The June 22, 2018, US West Coast base port average spot rate was $1,194 per FEU, $72 or 5.7 percent below the previous week. The rate is up $102 or 9.3 percent year over year, while $329 or 21.6 percent below year-end 2017. This June 22 index was $237 or 16.6 percent below its Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $1,431 per FEU. To US EAST COAST base ports* SLIDES: The June 22, 2018, East Coast base port average spot rate was $2,181 per FEU, $55 or 2.5 percent below the previous week. This week's rate is a year-over-year increase of $168 or 8.3 percent. The June 22 index is down $237 per FEU or 9.8 percent from year-end 2017, and $258 or 10.6 percent below its Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $2,439 per FEU. To NORTH EUROPE base ports* FALLS FOR THIRD WEEK: The June 22, 2018, North Europe base port average spot rate was $834 per TEU, $28 or 3.2 percent below the prior week as the rate fell $48 or 5.4 percent year over year. The June 22 level was down $30 or 3.5 percent from year-end 2017, and down $398 or 32.3 percent from its Oct. 16, 2009, base rate of $1,232 per TEU. To MEDITERRANEAN base ports* DIPS AFTER RISING FOR NINE WEEKS: The June 22, 2018, Mediterranean base port average spot rate was $905 per TEU, down $10 or 1.1 percent from the prior week. The Mediterranean rate is up $27 or 3.1 percent year over year and up $167 or 22.6 percent from year-end 2017.
